Issue 192  “UNION NEWS” September 2026

God Is Bigger Than Our Biggest Problem
‘Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the
water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.’
Exodus 14:16
The Israelites found themselves trapped between the Red Sea and the
tyrant Pharaoh’s army. They were terrified and could see no way out.
Yet Moses told them to “Stand firm” and trust in God. Then God did
something amazing. He made a way through the sea, where there had
been no way at all.
We all face problems that can feel overwhelming—worries about
health, money, relationships, work, or the future. Sometimes we can
feel trapped, just as the Israelites did. But the story of the Red Sea
reminds us that God is bigger than even our biggest problem.
God may not always solve our difficulties in the way we expect, but He
promises to be with us and to lead us through. Most wonderfully,
through Jesus Christ on the cross, God has already made a way
through our greatest problem—the slavery of sin and the power of
death.
Whatever you are facing today, bring it to God. Stand firm, trust Him,
and remember: our God is bigger than the tyrant, bigger than death,
bigger than sin, and bigger than the biggest problem.

The Bible Course
It seems clear that there is a hunger within the parishes for a better
understanding of how the whole story of the Bible fits together. With
this in mind we are planning an 8-week Bible overview course on
Thursday nights from 7:30-9pm, beginning on 10 th September and
running each Thursday until 29 th October.

Each evening will be a mix of
video content, bible study, discussion, and tea! Whether you take part
in the whole course, or dip in and out, can I encourage you to make
time to come along.

Summer Kids Club
The Mullingar Union of Parishes hosted a 3 day summer Holiday
Kids Club from 19 th -21 st August in and around All Saints’ Church and
school.

Over 35 children attended over the three days as we played
games, created crafts, played water games and wide games, learnt
memory verses and all about Jesus from the Bible.

The whole event was brilliant and lively thanks to our dedicated leaders. Many thanks
to all who worked so hard to make this busy few days happen. Maybe
we’ll do it again sometime!

Grounded Youth
Grounded is our youth group for secondary-school-aged young people.
We run every Friday from 7-9pm, moving between the halls in All
Saints’, Mullingar Presbyterian Church, and the Band Hall where
Mullingar Christian Fellowship meets.

We also have some trips beyond the halls during the year. Grounded is named because we believe that
Jesus is the solid foundation on which our young people can ground
their lives, and so each Friday we take a look at a passage of the Bible
together and discuss it to see what God might be saying to us.

Grounded will restart in September – here are the September dates &
venues:
11 th September – All Saints’ Church
18 th September – Mullingar Presbyterian (N91Y9HN)
25 th September – Mullingar Presbyterian
2 nd October – Venue TBC

Wedding
The marriage of David Gillespie and Dorothy Pulbrook took place on
Wednesday 8 th July. With the sun splitting the sky, family and friends
gathered at All Saints’ Church ready to celebrate the couple’s special
day. It was a wonderfully joyful occasion as Dorothy and David made
their vows to one another before God and his Church. Please continue
to pray for David and Dorothy as they continue their journey through
life together under God.

Summer Songs of Praise
We had a lovely Songs of Praise service in the beautiful surroundings of
Almoritia Church on 23 rd August. It was great to see so many there,
and to hear the enthusiastic singing! After the service hospitality was
enjoyed by all outside the church overlooking the wonderful views.
Thanks to all who made the songs of praise service a success.

All Saints’ Sunday School

Sunday school restarts on Sunday 6 th September at the 10am service in
All Saints’ Mullingar. Our wonderful dedicated team of leaders has

see some new faces!
