Taste and See\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
\u201cTaste and see that the LORD is good\u2026\u201d Psalm 34:8\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n We live in a time when God is often pushed to the margins, yet many\u00a0 people still feel a deep spiritual hunger. People try all sorts of things to\u00a0 satisfy it, but anything apart from God is like fast food\u2014it may seem\u00a0 satisfying for a moment, but it never truly nourishes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In Matthew 28, Jesus sets out his plan to address this spiritual hunger.\u00a0 As his people, we are called to share the life-giving message of Jesus,\u00a0 the bread of life. God meets people through his Church\u2014that\u2019s us.\u00a0 With all authority, Jesus sends us to make disciples, to introduce others\u00a0 to him, and to walk with them in faith. He is the one who provides; we\u00a0 simply serve what he has prepared. Though the task can feel daunting,\u00a0 his promise remains: \u201cI am with you always.\u201d This summer, can I\u00a0 encourage you to \u2018taste and see that the Lord is good.\u2019 Come to\u00a0 church, read your Bible, stop and pray, and when you\u2019ve tasted and\u00a0 seen, why not share what you\u2019ve found in Christ with others?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Vision & Mission Forum\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n In order to help shape the direction our union of parishes takes over\u00a0 the next few years, a Vision and Mission Forum has been planned for\u00a0 Sunday, 31<\/span>st <\/span>May following a united service in All Saints\u2019 at 10am. After\u00a0 the service we will meet together in the Greville Arms to think about\u00a0 what our churches do well and what we could do better. This will be\u00a0 an informal meeting where you get to have your say on the ministry\u00a0 and mission of the church. It would be great to see you there.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n May Sale: Saturday 16<\/b>th <\/b>10am – 2pm\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n Planning is underway for this year\u2019s sale with the ever popular cake\u00a0 and plant stalls along with a raffle, teas and tasty burgers. The children\u2019s baking and craft competitions return this year. There will\u00a0 also be a quiz zone for all with a colouring competition and we are\u00a0 holding a fun Dog Show this year.<\/span><\/p>\n Baking competition details:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n 8 years & under: 6 decorated Fairy\/Queen cakes presented on a plate 9 years & older: Chocolate Victoria sponge, decorated and presented\u00a0 on a plate.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Craft Competition: A Lego only creation\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This year we are introducing a Lego competition with 2 classes: Class A – 8 years and under; Class B – 9 years and older. Please make an item of your choice that will fit on a standard Lego\u00a0 base place (32 dots x 32dots). Please note the item does not have to be\u00a0 presented on a Lego plate. Here are some suggestions to get you\u00a0 thinking: something from nature, a favourite animal, a\u00a0 building\/structure\/vehicle, a creation of your imagination. We look\u00a0 forward to seeing what you make on the 16<\/span>th<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n All entries to be submitted by 11am at the back of the Church Hall. No\u00a0 entry fee, prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd. Judges’ decisions announced at\u00a0 12.30pm.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Fun Dog Show: This is new for 2026 and will be held on the grounds\u00a0 behind the church, in front of the school. There will be 4 classes, entry\u00a0 fee \u20ac5 per class, 3 classes for \u20ac10. Registration commences at 10.15\u00a0 with the first class starting at 10.45. We expect to have all classes\u00a0 completed by 12 noon. Classes are: Dog with waggiest tail, Best 6 legs,\u00a0 Best Dog & junior handler (by a junior under 12), Best sausage catcher.\u00a0 Please note classes may change on the day. Water dishes will be\u00a0 provided & back-up poo bags!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Donations are requested for the cake and plant stalls in particular. The\u00a0 Church Hall will be open on Friday 15<\/span>th <\/span>from 3pm – 7pm to drop in\u00a0 items or bring along on the day of the sale (as early as possible). Can you help? Emma 087 6374131<\/span><\/p>\n Looking Back at Easter\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n This year the Lent and Easter period proved to be a real joy in our\u00a0 union. The Bible studies on Tuesdays and Thursdays were edifying for\u00a0 all who attended and helped us focus in on the Sunday readings in\u00a0 advance. Our daily reading <\/span>In Quietness and Trust <\/span><\/i>was well received\u00a0 and gave structure to Lent. The Holy Week services in All Saints were\u00a0 well attended and the journey helped us to renew our focus on the\u00a0 cross of Christ and the empty tomb. Many thanks to Canon Patrick for\u00a0 leading some of these services. On Good Friday we met in Almoritia\u00a0 and All Saints\u2019 to reflect upon Jesus\u2019s sacrifice for sin. On Easter\u00a0 Saturday, our young adults group met for dinner in the rectory, and to\u00a0 take a close look at John 20 \u2013 as ever the discussion was insightful and\u00a0 encouraging. And finally, we gathered in All Saints\u2019 and Killucan for very well attended services to celebrate the resurrection of the Lord.\u00a0 Our prayer is that Lent and Easter proved to be a time of reflection and\u00a0 spiritual growth for all involved. Thanks to our church wardens,\u00a0 musicians, singers, readers, decorators, and all who put in the work to\u00a0 make this a special time in our churches. <\/span>\u2018\u2026thanks be to God! It was lovely to see the\u00a0 union come together to select the committee for the year ahead. Many\u00a0 thanks to all who have served in the year gone by, and for all those who\u00a0 have agreed to serve in 2026-27.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Grounded Youth\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n We\u2019ve had a brilliant year at Grounded Youth.
