In Quietness and Trust<\/strong><\/em>
\n\u2018Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God\u2019<\/em>
\nMatthew 5:3<\/em><\/p>\n

In his book In Quietness & Trust, Matt Searles says that, \u2018Being a
\nChristian is not seeking to ascend to God; rather it is a way down. We
\nfollow the way of Jesus, who went the way of the cross before
\nresurrection.\u2019 Searles says that the beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12)<\/p>\n

\u2018…exemplify this downward way: the way of quietness and trust. But
\nthe wonderful news is that this downward way is the blessed way. It is
\nthe way of flourishing.\u2019 This Lent and Eastertide let\u2019s walk with Jesus
\non the blessed \u2018downward\u2019 way. Let\u2019s spend time in the Scriptures and
\nprayer so that our hearts may be turned toward the one who gave his
\nlife up in quietness and trust, that we might live.<\/p>\n

Lenten Reading<\/strong>
\nThis year\u2019s Lenten reading is In Quietness & Trust by Matt Searles.
\nBased around the Beatitudes from Jesus\u2019 Sermon on the Mount, this
\nbook provides us with a reading and reflection and a daily liturgical
\nprayer pattern. This would be a good way for us to concentrate our
\nhearts and minds on Scripture and prayer in the run-up to Easter.
\nCopies will be available in the churches for \u20ac2 in the run up to Lent.<\/p>\n

Lenten Bible Study<\/strong>
\nFollowing the success of the Advent Bible studies, we are going to run
\na six-week Lenten Bible study starting in February. This time we are
\ngoing to use the gospel readings for the following Sunday which
\nrevolve around encounters Jesus had with all sorts of people on the
\nway to the cross.<\/p>\n

Once again there are two options to choose from.
\nWe will meet on Tuesday mornings in All Saints church hall from 10:30-
\n11:30 beginning on 17 th February.<\/p>\n

Alternatively you can join us in the
\nRectory on Thursday evenings from 7:30-8:30pm beginning on 19 th
\nFebruary. All welcome.<\/p>\n

Ash Wednesday<\/strong>
\nThere will be an Ash Wednesday Communion service in All Saints at
\n11:30am on 18 th February.<\/p>\n

Confirmation<\/strong>
\nConfirmation Classes will begin on Sunday 19th April at 5pm in the
\nRectory for this year\u2019s candidates. The service will take place on
\nSunday 7th June. Potential candidates are asked to make themselves
\nknown to Rev. Ian, please. Candidates in 1st year and above are
\nwelcome.<\/p>\n

Coffee Mornings<\/strong>
\nOur coffee mornings continue in All Saints between 10:30am and
\n12noon on Thursdays. The donations for February will be given to
\nMental Health Mullingar. Do come along to support these events.<\/p>\n

Whist<\/strong>
\nThere will be Whist Drives in All Saints with an 8pm start on 6 th
\nFebruary and 6 th March. All welcome.<\/p>\n

Board Games Saturday<\/strong>
\nBoard Games Saturday will take place on 21 st February and 21 st March
\nin All Saints from 3-4:30pm. This is for 7-year-olds and older.<\/p>\n

General Easter Vestry<\/strong>
\nThe Annual General Easter Vestry will take place on Wednesday 15 th
\nApril at 7:30pm in All Saints\u2019 Church Hall. This is an important meeting
\nin the life of our Union of Parishes as this is where the select vestry are
\nelected each year. The more people in attendance the better it is for
\nour churches. Rev Ian will also give a report on the ministry in the year
\ngone past and look to the future of our churches.<\/p>\n

Select Vestry<\/strong>
\nThe next meeting of the Select Vestry will be held at 7:30pm on
\nTuesday 3 rd February in the Rectory.<\/p>\n

Grounded Youth<\/strong>
\nGrounded is our new youth group for 6 th class-6 th years. We meet most
\nFriday\u2019s from 7-9pm. It has been brilliant so far and I would love to see
\nmore of our teens coming along \u2013 do come and join in! Each week we
\nmeet for games, food, and to learn something about God from the
\nBible.<\/p>\n

All Saints\u2019 National School Enrolment<\/strong>
\nAll Saints\u2019 National School is accepting applications for enrolment for
\nthe school year 2026\u20132027 from Wednesday 12 th \u00a0November 2025 to
\nFriday 14 th \u00a0February 2026 The school admission notice and application
\nform are available online on our website –\u00a0allsaintsnsmullingar.ie.<\/p>\n

Please return the form by closing on Friday 14 th \u00a0February. Hard copies
\nof application forms are available from the school office 04493 48206<\/p>\n

Re-Turn Bottle Donations for All Saints\u2019 School<\/strong>
\nAll Saints\u2019 school is raising money through the Re-Turn scheme and
\nwould\u00a0be delighted if members\u00a0of the community donated\u00a0their\u00a0cans
\nand bottles to the school. There is a yellow bin on site for donations.
\nPlease feel free\u00a0to drop your empties into the school – they will be
\ngreatly appreciated.<\/p>\n

Sunday Club<\/strong>
\nThanks to our dedicated leaders Sunday Club takes place every week at
\nthe 10am service in All Saints\u2019, Mullingar – except when there is a family service.<\/p>\n

We\u2019d love to see more children coming along to hear
\nabout and enjoy God\u2019s love. All welcome.<\/p>\n

Join the Parish Choir<\/strong>
\nThe Choir in All Saints is looking for new members. If you think you
\nmight be interested, please talk to Bill McConnell or get in touch with
\nRev Ian.<\/p>\n

Baptism<\/strong>
\nOn Sunday 7 th December we were delighted to partake in the baptism
\nof Dorothy Pulbrook at All Saints\u2019 Church. It was a tremendous
\noccasion and a real blessing to the church family. Please continue to
\npray for Dorothy as she grows in the faith into which she has been
\nbaptised.<\/p>\n

Young Adults<\/strong>
\nIt was great to have 13 of our young adults for a meal and Bible study
\nat Christmas time. The food was good, and the depth of conversation
\neven better. Please continue to pray for our young adults as they work
\nand study in the year ahead. There will be more gatherings on the way
\nso keep an ear out for details!<\/p>\n
