Issue 161 “UNION NEWS” August 2023

Dear Parishioners,
Summer
I do hope that you are finding time for some rest and relaxation amidst
the many challenges the world is facing this summer.
The month of August promises to be an enjoyable time in Mullingar
and Westmeath.

The Fleadh Cheoil
We are all looking forward to the Fleadh which runs from Sunday 6 th to
Monday 14 th August. Last year the Fleadh was a wonderful success and
we wish ever one well in the different activities and events and we hope
the weather will hold. The Services in All Saints’ on Sunday 6 th and 13 th
of August will be at 8.30 a.m. as the town is closed to traffic from 10
am each day during the Fleadh. All Saints’ Church will be open to
visitors from 12- 2pm each day and we thank the volunteers who have
agreed to welcome the visitors

Children’s Bible Camp

Wednesday the 1 st and 2 nd August from 9.30a.m. to 1p.m in All Saints’
This will be a very special event for children aged between 6 – 12 and I
do hope it will be well supported by parents. Please telephone Arthur
with the names of the children who will be attending 087 9733233.

Doran who were recently married in All Saints’

Wednesday Service
Starting on Wednesday 6 th September at 11a.m. there will be a weekly
Service in All Saints’ every Wednesday. The Service provides an
opportunity for prayer and healing. I do hope parishioners will
appreciate this prayerful opportunity and everyone will be most
welcome each Wednesday in All Saints’ at 11a.m.

Gratitude Sunday- Sunday 3 rd September
Saying thank you and showing appreciation is so important and needs
to be emphasized in life today. I warmly invite you to come to a special
Service of Gratitude – a Songs of Praise in All Saints’ at 11a.m. on
Sunday 3 rd September. This will provide a lovely opportunity to show
our gratitude to God and to each other for all that we have received.
Following the Service Olive and I would to invite everyone to the
Rectory for tea, coffee and soft drinks to show our gratitude to you all
in the Parish and to express our thanks for your on going support.

Climate Sunday- Sunday 17 th September at 2.30p.m.
The daily news is leaving us in no doubt that climate change is already
here in the world. I would like to invite you to a special Service in
Leney Church, Bunbrosna, on Sunday 17 th September at 2.30p.m. The
young leaders and parishioners have cleared the interior of the Church
and the Service will be held there which is both an appropriate and
beautiful setting. The owners of the land around the church welcome
the service being held and will also attend the Service. Parking will be
in the car park at Tormey’s Pub, Bunbrosna.
Do come and support the parish initiative on Climate Change

Bereavements
We offer our deepest sympathy to Vivienne Mulligan following the
sudden death of her mother Mabel on the 20 th July. The funeral took
place in Dunderry Church on Monday 24 th July. Vivienne’s mother was
a remarkable woman and was deeply loved by her husband and all the
family. She will be very sadly missed and we pray that Vivienne and
her family will be comforted by their memories of her mum and by
their faith in God. We pray that Mabel now in the fuller presence of
God may rest in peace and rise in glory. Vivienne’s mothers’ death
comes shortly after the death of Vivienne’s brother Ivan so we
appreciate what a sad time is it for Vivienne and the family following
the two family bereavements.

Summer Holidays
As I have written in previous Union Notes I am always available if
anyone in the Parish needs to contact me.
With God’s blessings,
