Dear Parishioners,
The month of May
Each year the month of May offers so much – the longer evenings and the onset of
summer all bring a lovely beauty and inspiration. This year we have a number of
special occasions in the Parish which I hope you will enjoy.
Festival of Music for Pentecost
On Sunday 28 th May we will celebrate Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit.
This year we will have a lovely Service of Special Music and Hymns in All Saints’ at
11.00 a.m. and afterwards we hope we will all be able to enjoy each other’s company
and conversation. Sacred music lifts all our spirits and I hope this very special
occasion will be very well supported by parishioners.
Lighten Our Darkness
The young leaders made a wonderful impact on the Corrymeela Community during
their visit over the weekend of 16 th April. The House of Bishops has invited the young
leaders to make their presentation on Climate Change at the General Synod of the
Church of Ireland on Saturday 13 th May in Wexford. This is a wonderful recognition
of the leadership the young people are bringing to the Church and we wish them well
on this most auspicious occasion.
Summer Madness
Summer Madness is a wonderful youth festival which is held in Co. Antrim each year.
Last year a number of young people attended from the Parish and had an absolutely
wonderful time. This year a larger number of young people will be going and I send
an invitation to all young people in secondary school to think of attending. The
Summer Madness on Friday 30 th June to Monday 3 rd July. Please contact me for
details- 0877870985.
Ascension
Ascension Day will be held on Thursday 18 th May. We hope to hold a special Service
with music in All Saints’ at 11.00 a.m. As we do each year, the prayers will be said at
the Ascension window in All Saints’ which is so stunningly beautiful.
Mullingar Choral
Mullingar Choral will be holding their summer concert on Sunday 7 th May at 7.30pm
in St. Paul’s Church. The concert is entitled “May – we sing” and the tickets are €20
each. The Mullingar Choral now hold their practices in All Saints’. Their music is
always so uplifting and their concerts so enjoyable. Do try and attend the concert and
you will have a wonderful evening.
Thanksgiving Service for Anne Purdon
As you are aware, Anne Purdon passed away before Easter. Anne had been one of the
longstanding parishioners of Killucan Parish. A special Thanksgiving Service for
Anne’s life will be held in St. Etchen’s, Killucan, on Sunday 14 th May at 3.00 p.m. I
warmly invite you to attend this service when we will have the opportunity to thank
God for Anne’s life and her devoted service and generosity to Killucan Parish.
All Saints’ Church Flowers
The number of parishioners available to do the flowers in All Saints’ is now just 3
people. Everyone appreciates the beautiful flowers in church every Sunday but
clearly it is not going to be possible for just 3 people to provide all the flowers week
by week. So may I make a special appeal to parishioners to consider helping with the
flowers. You don’t have to be an expert flower arranger and everyone’s efforts will
be appreciated. Please contact Doreen Lynch on 087-6258398. She would love to
hear from you.
