MULLINGAR UNION OF PARISHES
Dear Parishioners,
November is known as “the month to remember” and this month we will have a number of special Parish occasions which I hope you will be able to attend.
Sunday Services
To accommodate the needs of younger families in the Parish we hold the Children’s Service in All Saints’ at 11.00 a.m. each month, and the Children’s Service in Killucan at 11.30 a.m. From November, on the first Sunday in the month, the Sunday School J.A.M. will be held in All Saints’ and the Service time will be 11.00 a.m. I hope this change of time will not be too inconvenient and, of course, I will always do my best to keep to the regular Sunday Service times as often as possible.
All Saints’ Day
The Patronal Festival for All Saints’ will be held on All Saints’ Day, Friday 1st November and there will be a special Service with music in All Saints’, at 11.00 a.m. Everyone will be most welcome.
Remembrance Day – Sunday 10th November
The traditional Remembrance Service will be held in All Saints’ at 10.30 a.m. and the special preacher this year will be Very Rev. Tim Wright, Dean of Kildare and former Deputy Head Chaplain in the RAF. This is always a very moving occasion with inspiring music and words and a reflection by Ruth Illingworth. All the Organisations in the town will be represented.
Rock Solid Youth Club
The Youth Club will meet twice this month – on Thursday 7th November and Thursday 28th November, from 7.30 p.m. – 9.00 p.m. The Youth Club is for all young people in secondary school. The feedback from the young people who attend is always very positive. I warmly commend the Youth Club to all parents and young people in the Parish.
J.A.M. Sunday School
All Saints’ Sunday 3rd November, Sunday 1st December at 11.00 a.m.
Killucan Sunday 3rd, 17th and 24th November November at 11.30 a.m.
Breakfast Holy Communion
Starting this month, on the first Sunday in each month, at 8.30 a.m. there will be a Breakfast Holy Communion for young people. The format will be a short Service followed by a cooked breakfast in All Saints’. I hope young people will look forward to attending.
Westmeath Protestant Orphans Society – 175th Anniversary
The last anniversary event this year will be a Coffee Morning in All Saints’ on Thursday 7th November at 11.30 a.m. Ruth Illingworth, the renowned historian, will give a lecture on the work of the Society in the first few decades of its’ foundation. This will be a most interesting lecture and will provide a very interesting Westmeath historical perspective.
Select Vestry
There will be a meeting of the Select Vestry on Monday 18th November at 8.00 p.m. in the Rectory.
Diocesan Celebration of Lay Ministry
On Sunday 10th November, at 5.00 pm in All Saints’, the Bishop will celebrate Communion at a special occasion to mark the 40th anniversary of those commissioned 40 years ago for lay ministry in the Diocese. All will be most welcome.
Children’s Inspiring Festival – Sunday 17th November
This year the Festival of Song, Dance and Music will be held on Sunday 17th November at 11.00 a.m. in All Saints’. This is a truly joyful and uplifting celebration of the Gospel.
Bible Study
The monthly Bible Study will be held in All Saints’ on Saturday 23rd November at 10.30 a.m.
Westmeath Choral
The 150th anniversary of the formation of the Westmeath Choral will be celebrated at Evensong on Sunday 24th November at 7.00 p.m. in All Saints’.
Lighten Our Darkness – Parish Conference
The next Planning Meeting will be held in All Saints’ at 8.00 p.m. on Monday 4th November.
Killucan Coffee Morning and Advent Art
On Saturday 30th November, from 11.30 a.m. – 1.30 p.m., a Coffee Morning will be held in Killucan church for all parishioners and neighbours in the community. At the Coffee Morning there will be an Advent Art workshop for children who will have the opportunity to prepare art which will be displayed in the church during Advent.
Concert – Sunday 17th November
The Lynn Singers will hold a concert in All Saints’ church on Sunday 17th November at 7.00 p.m.
All Saints’ Whist Drives
The November Whist Drive will be held on Friday 1st November at 8.30 p.m. in All Saints’. Everyone is most welcome. The Christmas Whist Drive will be held on Friday 6th December at 8.30 p.m.
Coffee on Thursdays
You will always be most welcome at Coffee between 10.30 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. every Thursday in All Saints’.
Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Association
The Company will be meeting during November, and on Tuesday 5th the Company will visit Rock and Bowl for the evening.
Saints’ Days this month – St. Cecilia and St. Andrew
There will be a celebration of Holy Communion at 11.00a.m on Friday 22nd November to celebrate St. Cecilia’s Day, the patron saint of music, and on Saturday 30th November at 10.00 a.m. to celebrate St. Andrew’s Day, the patron saint of Scotland.
