Issue 110 “UNION NEWS” April 2019

Dear Parishioners,

Holy Week- Palm Sunday 14th April- Good Friday 19th April

Holy Week is a very important time of prayer in the parish and the details of the Services are in the Union Notes. I hope the numbers attending will increase this year as in recent years the numbers at Church have been very small.

  •  Lenten Lunches

The Lenten Lunch at Kilbixy on the 23rd March was a wonderful success and thanks is due to the organisers.

This month the Lenten Lunch will be held on Friday 12th April 12 noon to 2p.m. in All Saints’. Your support would be very much appreciated.

A Lenten Study- Growing Together in Christ

I warmly invite you to two evening meetings in Holy Week – Monday 15th April and Thursday 18th at 8p.m. in All Saints’. We will gather to prayerfully consider how the Bible teaches us to grow together in Christ as a parish. I hope you will find both occasions of interest and everyone will be most welcome,

Children’s Passion Musical- All Saints’ Sunday 14th April

This beautifully poignant occasion will be held on Palm Sunday, 14th April, at  12.00 noon in All Saints’.  I do commend this musical to you, the children present Our Lord’s Passion in a most moving musical presentation under the direction of Mrs. Ashmore. This is an inspiring occasion to begin Holy Week each year.

Good Friday- 19th April- Sacred Words and Sacred Music

This will be the tenth year for the special Service of Sacred Words and Sacred Music at 8p.m. in All Saints’. This Service is prayerfully uplifting and perfect for a Good Friday evening. This year we are privileged to have the Lynn Singers and our Senior Parish Choir. For the first time some young people from the parish will be performing liturgical dance. I hope a good number of parishioners will attend.  Last year sadly the attendance was very small.

Easter Day

Details of all the Easter Services are provided in the Union Notes.  I look forward to welcoming you to church on Easter Day which is one of the most important Sundays in the year for Christians to attend church.  After the Services in All Saints’ and Killucan an Easter Egg Hunt will be provided for the children.

Mayfair

This year the Parish Mayfair will be held on Saturday 11th May from 10.00 am – 2.00 pm in All Saints’ church.  The MayFair is always very well supported and there are always wonderful plants for sale and delicious cakes, along with many other interesting stalls.  Refreshments are available.  This is an annual opportunity to come along and support in a special way your Parish.   I hope you will make a special effort to not only attend but also to help.  We would like to thank Emma Coburn for agreeing to be Organiser again this year and she will be delighted to hear from you if you are available to help.

Rock Solid – Easter Camp

On Tuesday 23rd, Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th April there will be a special youth Camp for young people from 11 years each evening at 6.30p.m. and ending at 8.30 p.m. the camp will be run by the leaders from Youth For Christ and I warmly commend the Easter Camp to young people and the patents- it will be a time of great fun and enjoyment.
