MULLINGAR UNION OF PARISHES
Issue 63 "UNION NEWS" May 2015
The Easter celebrations and ceremonies went very well this year and it was encouraging to see
that the congregations were larger than previous years. I hope we can look forward to continuing
strong support for the worshipping life of the Parish and I pray that the Lord's risen spirit will be
very evident in all that we do.
The Easter Vestry Meeting on 9th April went very well indeed and the Parish will be very well
served by the members of the Select Vestry this year. I would like to thank those who retired for
their wonderful support and commitment over many years. I warmly welcome those who are
joining the Select Vestry for the first time and those who have kindly agreed to continue their work
on the Vestry.
Parish Vision Plan
The Select Vestry will be providing the leadership for the Parish Vision Plan which we hope, on its'
implementation, will see the growth and development of the Parish. During this month there are
four important events relating to the Vision Plan.
" Communication Forum - Wednesday 13th May, 7.00 p.m.
" Parish Events Forum - Monday 18th May, 8.00 p.m.
" Commissioning Service - Sunday 24th May, 7.00 p.m.
" Children's May Festival - Sunday 31st May, 11.00 a.m.
These events will be held in All Saints' and are open to all parishioners. I hope the events will
be very well supported. Please do come and help in the building of our Parish. On Sunday
24th May the Bishop will be preaching at the Commissioning Service. I sincerely hope there
will be a very large congregation on this occasion.
The Festival which was to have been held on the 16th May will now be held later in the year.
Boys' Brigade and Girls' Association
On Tuesday 19th May a special Awards Evening will be held to close this year's session. I do hope
this occasion will be very well supported by parishioners. The Company is catering for over 30
children each week and the leadership and commitment of the Captain and leaders, along with
parents, is to be warmly commended and deserves our whole hearted support.
Cake and Plant Sale - Saturday 23rd May
The Cake and Plant Sale will be held in All Saints' on Saturday 23rd May from 10.00 a.m. - 1.00 p.m.
This is a wonderful annual event and raises much-needed funds for the Parish. If you can assist in
any way with the Plants, please contact Arie and Jean Gorrison on 044-9375496 and Catherine
Gibson-Brabazon on 087-7461650. Olive Graham will be organising the Cake Stall again this year
with the support of parishioners and if you could donate some cakes, bread or scones, would you
please ring Olive on 044-9348376. This year there will also be a Craft Stall organised by Karen
Lomax and there will also be refreshments. Please don't miss the Cake and Plant Sale. We will
greatly welcome your support.
A craft group, organised by Karen Lomax will meet each week until the Sale. Each Wednesday from
11am to 1pm,and Thursdays from 8pm to 9.30pm in All Saint Church Hall - all are welcome and
bring some friends.
We welcomed into God's family through Baptism Kate Van Der Puil and we pray for Kate and her
parents Ben and Erin, her Godparents and we pray she will grow in her faith and love of God.
We offer our deepest sympathy to Joe and Angela Wall following the death of Joe's Aunt Nancy,
Liam Smyth and Nicole Cole following the death of Liam's sister Anne, Billy and Jo Small following
the death of Jo's mother Peggy. We also offer our sympathy to Julie following the death of her
much loved husband Joe Sheilds who was buried in Ballyglass following a funeral service in All
Saints' on Friday 17th April. We pray that Nancy, Anne, Peggy and Joe now in the fuller presence of
God may rest in peace.
