MULLINGAR UNION OF PARISHES
Issue 65 "UNION NEWS" July 2015
Dear Parishioner(s)

Summer Services
This month you will see that some of the Sunday Service times have changed. I have had to make these alterations as I am not able to avail of clerical support during the month of July. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but I am sure you will understand the position. I do hope that parishioners will still attend church over the summer months as there is something lovely on summer Sundays in spending time in God's house.

Confirmation 2015
The Confirmation Service was held in All Saints' Church on Sunday 14th June at 11.00 a.m. It was a wonderful ceremony. It was a very important occasion for all the candidates and their families. The candidates this year were Cormac O'Fearghail, Hughie O'Neill, Alex Maher, Jennifer Fletcher, Bevan Gillmor, James McGrath, John Webster, Craig Gillespie, Oisin Ryan. We pray that God will bless each of them and we warmly welcome their contribution to the life of the parish.

Rev. Ruth O'Kelly - Intern Deacon
Ruth's final Service was on Sunday 21st June at 11.30 a.m. in St. Etchen's Killucan. It has been lovely having Ruth with us in the Parish and we wish her well as she takes up her position as Curate in Rathfarnham Parish.

Concert in All Saints'
A special Concert was held in All Saints on Saturday 20th June at 8.00 p.m. in aid of an Orphanage in Tanzania. All the artists were magnificent. Special thanks are due to Miriam Blennerhassett, Helen Hassett and Joe McDonald who organised the concert.

Heritage Week

Holy Baptisms
We welcomed into God's family Daisy, Poppy and Indie Rose through Baptism. We will continue to remember them and their parents and Godparents in our prayers.

Bereavements
We also offer our deepest sympathy to John and Lorraine Hales. John, who is People's Churchwarden in All Saints' Church, sadly lost his mother who passed away in her sleep in her home in Mallow on Thursday 4th June. The funeral service was held in Lismore Cathedral on Monday 8th June and it was a most moving occasion. John's uncle, Rev. Tom Sherlock, gave a beautiful eulogy and John's mother, Lily, was buried with her mother in the adjoining churchyard. We offer our sincere sympathy to John, Lorraine, Killian, Zoe and Evan, John's brother and the wider family circle. John's mother had a very special and deep faith and we pray that the family will draw much comfort in knowing that she is now at rest.

We also offer our deepest sympathy to Pat and Paula Horan, following the death of Pat's mother. Pat is the Principal of the Parish National School, and his mother was a highly respected and much loved citizen of the town of Mullingar. We offer our deepest sympathy to Pat and all the family, in particular Pat's father Paddy. Pat's mother also had a very deep faith and we know her faith will be a great strength to all the family at this sad time.

We also offer our deepest sympathy to Nia and Alasdair Richardson. Nia's uncle passed away and we pray for all of Nia's family at this sad time. We pray that her uncle may rest in peace and that they may be comforted by God's presence.

Summer Holidays
I would like to wish you all a very enjoyable, restful and safe summer before returning to all the activities again in September.
