MULLINGAR UNION OF PARISHES
Issue 53 "UNION NEWS" 1st July 2014
The Confirmation Service in Trim Cathedral on Sunday 15th June was a most inspiring occasion and we
warmly congratulate the candidates and their families - Daniel Chukwuemeka, Heather Scott, Ruth Forbes,
Lucy Holmes, Stephen Walshe, Best Uyi. We look forward to their continued involvement in the Parish and
we know they will have a great deal to offer to the future of the Church.
We baptised into God's family April Connolly on Sunday 8th June. We will continue to pray for April, her
brother Oscar, her parents, Pauric and Linda, and her godparents.
Rectory Coffee Morning
The Rectory Coffee Morning was held on Saturday 14th June and was a delightful occasion. The weather on
the morning was lovely, which allowed everyone to sit in the garden. The Rectory walled garden is a very
special part of the Parish and has a unique setting in the centre of the town. The proceeds of over €1000
raised at the Coffee Morning, will help defray the costs of the Flower Festival in November.
Almoritia Bring and Buy Sale
The Bring and Buy Sale was held on Saturday 28th June in the beautiful setting of Mearescourt, by kind
permission of George Tracey. It was a wonderful success and raised over €5,500. The proceeds will be used
to undertake some essential work on the church structure. I would like to thank all the parishioners of
Almoritia who worked so hard to make this occasion such a successful event and to other parishioners in the
Parish who helped with the organisation and supported the Sale on the day. A special feature of the occasion
was the huge number of people who came from the local community. Their support shows the respect and
admiration the community have for the parishioners of Almoritia.
The next Saturday morning Bible Study will be held in All Saints' on Saturday 5th July at 10.30 a.m. We will be
studying St. John 20 v 24-29.
All Saint's School
The last month saw a great many activities being held in the School and we thank the Principal, teachers and
staff for all the good work they do with the children. Thanks also to all the parents for their support of the
School. We hope that everyone will enjoy a very restful summer and for all the young people who are moving
on to Secondary School, we wish them well in their future studies.
Parish/School Golf Outing
The Parish/School Golf Outing will be held on Friday 25th July at Mullingar Golf Club, by kind permission.
Each year this is a most enjoyable occasion and raises much-needed funds for both the School and the
Parish. I warmly commend this occasion to all golfers and, if you wish to participate please contact Cyril
Collier or Pat Fletcher who, each year, organise the event and work very hard to ensure its' success.
Rev. Jean Wynne
Rev. Jean Wynne will be on duty for all emergency calls from 8th - 28th July. She can be contacted on
I do hope you will all have a most enjoyable and restful summer and to those who do such sterling work
farming the land I hope they will benefit from the good weather this year.
