Almoritia Sale - Saturday 2nd July 11.00 am-3.00 pm
The 'Almost Everything Sale' will be held in the Milltown Community Centre, by kind permission, and promises to be a wonderful occasion. The Organising Committee has worked exceptionally hard to make the Sale a success and the proceeds will be going to help defray the cost of restoring the church.

We are holding a special Parish Remembrance Service on Sunday 10th July at 11.00 a.m. in All Saints'. I warmly invite all parishioners to attend.

MULLINGAR UNION OF PARISHES
Issue 78 "UNION NEWS" August 2016

Dear Parishioner(s)

August
August is always a quieter time in many aspects of life in Ireland and is certainly so in parishes. I know many parishioners will be on holiday this month and I hope you will have a very relaxing time and will return safely and well refreshed. For everyone working in farming and agriculture, I know this month will be busy in many respects and I sincerely hope that everyone working on farms will be aware of the safety issues that need to be adhered to. We are so blessed with the commitment and hard work the farmers undertake and, of course, we are the rich beneficiaries of so much of their produce. We pray that God will bless their work with good weather and a good harvest.

Parish Vision Plan Evaluation - Tuesday 26th July 8.00 pm
Dr. Miriam Galvin, the researcher of our Parish Vision Plan, will be holding a special Meeting in All Saints' on Tuesday 26th July at 8.00 pm. At this
Meeting there will be an opportunity for parishioners to share their comments and opinions on the different events which have been held in the Parish since last September as part of our new Events Ministry. This is a very important opportunity which I hope parishioners will support. If you have attended some of the events your comments will be very valued, but also if you have not attended I would warmly invite you to come to the meeting as the reasons why you may not have taking part in the events will also be important for our evaluation. I will look forward to opening the Meeting at 8.00 pm and then will be handing over to Dr. Galvin who will conduct and chair the Meeting.

Heritage Week
Heritage Week will run from Sunday 21st - Sunday 28th August. This year the churches at All Saints', Killucan and Kilbixy will be open for visitors.
Opening hours:
" All Saints' - Tuesday 23rd, Thursday 25th, Saturday 27th August between 2.00pm - 4.00 p.m.
" Killucan -Monday 22nd to Friday 26th August from 2.00 p.m. - 4.00 p.m.
" Kilbixy -Saturday 27th from 2.00pm - 4.00 pm and on Sunday 28th from 1.00pm - 4.00pm in the afternoon.
I would like to thank the parishioners in each of the churches for undertaking to be available to welcome visitors to the churches.

Dublin Airport Singers
As you know, the Dublin Airport Singers performed a magnificent concert on Saturday 18th June and then took part in the Songs of Praise in All Saints' on Sunday 19th June. Those who were able to attend these occasions were truly uplifted by the singing of this very talented choir. I would like to thank Brigid Geoghegan who arranged the visit and we will certainly look forward to a return visit by the choir in the future.

Parish Outing
The Parish Outing on Saturday 25th June to the Botanic Gardens in Dublin, and Glasnevin Cemetery, was thoroughly enjoyed by those parishioners who travelled on the bus. It was a very enjoyable day with great conversation and good company and, again, we would like to thank Brigid Geoghegan for organising this occasion and the visits to both the Gardens and Glasnevin, were very much appreciated.

All Saints' School
Elizabeth Sheridan will be Acting Principal from 31st August pending the appointment of the new Principal. I am delighted to announce that Lesley Denniston has been appointed teacher to Junior and Senior Infants next year.

September - Parish Vision Plan
In the next Union Notes we will be giving details of the launch of the second year of the Parish Vision Plan which I hope will be very well supported by the Parish. Christianity is certainly needed in today's world and provides a great hope in the midst of much despondency. We have a wonderful opportunity to develop an effective Christian presence within our own community. I do hope that parishioners will recognise the value of a vibrant church today and will want to not only be part of it but will also want to see their families involved as well.

Bereavement
We offer our deepest sympathy to John and Fran Caplin following the death of John's mother who resided near Swansea in South Wales. John's mother had not been well in recent years but had lived a very full and active life into her early nineties. John and the family will be comforted by the wonderful memories they have of her. We pray that, now in the fuller presence of God, she may rest in peace.

We also offer our deepest sympathy to Theo and Lyndsay Orton following the unexpected death of Theo's father. Theo's father lived beside Theo and Lyndsay and ran a very successful strawberry farm. He was a most gracious man and will be very sadly missed by his family and by his grandchildren who he adored as they adored him. In offering Theo and Lyndsay our deepest sympathy we pray that they will be comforted in knowing that God's promises are true and that Theo's dad, now in the fuller presence of God, may rest in peace.

Canon Patrick Lawrence
I will be away on holidays from Tuesday 2nd August until Wednesday 31st August. While I am away Canon Lawrence will be helping with the Sunday Service and will also be available, if required, for any pastoral or other emergency. Canon Lawrence, of course, was Archdeacon of the Diocese before moving to become Rector of Monkstown, Co. Dublin. Many of you will know him and I can certainly assure you that if you need to call upon his service, you will be greatly supported by his presence and care. Canon Lawrence is currently living in Rochfortbridge and can be contacted by telephoning 044-9222109 or on his mobile 086-0562944.

Presentation to Mr. Pat Horan
The presentation will take place on Friday 14th October in The Greville Arms Hotel.

Bible Study
The monthly Bible Study will not be held this month due to the holidays.
