MULLINGAR UNION OF PARISHES
Issue 70 "UNION NEWS" December 2015
December has to be one of people's favourite months of the year as we prepare for the
wonderful celebration of Christmas. In the Parish, again this year, we have the opportunity to
experience goodness in God's presence. This year we have all the much-loved ceremonies:
" The Christmas Carol Concert on Saturday 12th December at 7.00 p.m. in All Saints'. This year
the Parish choirs - the Musical Allsorts and the Senior Choir with soloists Amy Ashmore and
John McCord - link up with the Midland Youth Orchestra. An evening of Christmas goodness
not to be missed.
" Children's Nativity Play on Sunday 13th December at 11.00 a.m. in All Saints'. One of the
wonders of the preparation for Christmas.
" Carol Services on Sunday 20th December - Kilbixy 3.00 p.m., Killucan Children's 5.30 p.m., All
Saints' Candlelit with the Mullingar Town Band at 7.00 p.m.
" Christmas Whist Drive on Friday 4th December at 8.30 p.m. in All Saints' with great prizes
and a wonderful festive atmosphere.
Kilbixy 11.30 p.m. Midnight Communion
All Saints' 9.15 a.m. Holy Communion
10.00 a.m. Children's Family Service
11.30 a.m. Killucan Festival Eucharist

New Year's Day
Parishioners are invited to start the New Year with our lovely New Year's Day Service at 11.00
a.m. followed by coffee in the Rectory.
The next Bible Study will be held on Saturday 12th December at 10.30 a.m. in Killucan Church.
Bishop's Pastoral Visit
The Bishop will be visiting Killucan church on Sunday 6th December at 11.30 a.m. for her pastoral
visit. This Service is for the whole Parish and I hope parishioners from each of the churches will be
able to come to make this a very special event. The Bishop is looking forward to the opportunity of
meeting all the parishioners.
Parish Gift Day
I would like to thank everyone for their generous support of the Parish Gift Day and, of course,
envelopes will continue to be received until after Christmas.
The Diocesan Retreat will be held in All Saints' on Saturday 5th December from 11.00 a.m. - 4.00
p.m. The speaker will be Bishop Richard Henderson and everyone is welcome to attend.
November - what a month to remember
The special ceremonies and social occasions held in the Parish were a huge success and brought
large numbers to church at All Saints'. I would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to make
every event so successful. Your support and work is greatly appreciated.
The Confirmation will be held on Sunday 29th May in All Saints' next year. I will meet the
candidates for the initial meeting after the 10.00 a.m. Service in All Saints' on Sunday 10th January.
Those who wish to be confirmed should make the commitment to attend church on Sunday and to
participate in the Confirmation events. I will look forward to meeting the candidates.
We welcomed into God's family Ryan Williams on Sunday 8th November and Benjamin, John,
Rebecca Serena, and Matthew Timi Akinnola on Sunday 29th November through baptism. We will
continue to pray for them as they begin their journey of faith and we will also remember their
parents and godparents.
We offer our deepest sympathy to Myles and Wendy Gillespie following the death of Myles' uncle.
Myles' uncle had lived in the family home and had a very special relationship with all the family
and his presence will be very sadly missed. We pray that now in the fuller presence of God he may
rest in peace and that Myles and his family will be comforted by the love and support of their
family and friends.

year which we very much appreciate.
